• ARE YOU READY FOR THE R-RATED KRISTEN STEWART?

Tween Twilight fans may have fueled the intense interest in New Moon star Kristen Stewart, but they’re going to be locked out of the actress’s next films: the R-rated The Runaways, the Joan Jett-Cherie Currie biopic with her New Moon costar Dakota Fanning (due in theaters March 19), and Welcome to the Rileys, which both screened at the Sundance Film Festival recently.

At the film fest in Park City, Utah, the 19-year-old wore skinny jeans and sneakers in the snow and a khaki jacket she pulled close against the endless cold. She had that rebel without a cause vibe, a junior James Dean. This was not an actress racing toward couture and acclaim, but nervously holding herself together, knees thrumming uncontrollably, until she could slip behind her next part.

As the 70’s rock rebel Joan Jett, Stewart channels the teen spirit of girls growing up in a world where pudgy guitar teachers unapologetically told them they couldn’t play electric guitar simply because they were girls. As Jett, she also takes drugs, blows pot smoke into the mouth of her bandmate Cherie Currie (Fanning) and plants a same-sex kiss. Bye-bye, Bella: Twilight this is not.

In Welcome to the Rileys Stewart plays a low-rent teen stripper who turns tricks for cash in New Orleans. The story? This runaway becomes the catalyst for parents (Oscar nominee Melissa Leo and The Sopranos star James Gandolfini) grieving over their daughter’s accidental death. It’s the kind of part that seems like a rite of passage for child stars stepping into adulthood. The actress is believable as yet another waif who would be luckier to make choices between a vampire and a wolfman, than the johns that walk in off Bourbon Street.

While these R-rated parts may not be quite the role models for which most moms would have asked, Stewart’s eclectic choice of roles, and ability to meet their demands, is a preface to what will likely be a long and prolific career in front of the camera. Is she ready for the challenge?

• KRISTEN PREDICTED TO WIN 'RISING STAR' AWARD

As you already know, Kristen Stewart received a nomination for the Orange British Academy Film "Rising Star" Award, and, for the winner to be determined, fans of the nominees submit their votes for their respective choices.

Of course, Kristen Stewart's fans - at least those who are in a suitable geographic location to vote - have been voting away, hoping to help the actress win the award.

As a result, a recent Variety article predicts that Kristen Stewart is bound to win the award. The publication bases its prediction on her involvement with the Twilight saga.

Variety suggests that a trend has developed over the past few years where the winner is always a leading cast member in a popular film from that year.

In the past, James McAvoy won after "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," Eva Green after "Casino Royale" and Shia LaBeouf after "Transformers." Last year, Noel Clarke's fanbase from "Adulthood" and TV's "Doctor Who" trumped the higher Hollywood profile of Michael Cera.

While Stewart's recent film catalogue is not exclusively Twilight (what with The Runaways, Welcome To The Rileys, The Yellow Handkerchief, and even Adventureland), Variety points to the saga as the source of the majority of her voters.

• THE RUNAWAYS TO PREMIERE AT SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST

Hot off the heels of premiering at Sundance last month, "The Runaways" will make its second public appearance in Austin, Texas at the South By Southwest film festival in March. The SXSW featured films were announced this week, and "The Runaways" was one of seven "Headliners" selected by the festival.

Along with "The Runaways," the Duplass Brothers comedy "Cyrus" starring John C. Reilly and Jonah Hill, and the Bill Murray and Robert Duvall film "Get Low" are reappearing after Sundance. Two exciting films that are premiering for this first time at SXSW, however, are the much anticipated "Kick-Ass"(which will be the opening night film) and "MacGruber."

"Twilight" fans rejoice, because Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning won't be the only "Twilight" stars with films showing at the festival. Xavier Samuel, who won't really enter the Saga until this summer's "Eclipse," has his film "The Loved Ones" screening at the festival as well. The film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year, but this is the first time the film is hitting the States. It is in the "Midnighters" category of the festival, which we believe is self-explanatory as to when the film will be screened. ("Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil" is also in this category.)

With the focus of SXSW being a combination of film and music, it seems like the prime place for Kristen and Dakota to hop on stage and perform with Joan Jett & The Blackhearts like they did at Sundance. While we haven't seen any confirmed appearances, we wouldn't be surprised if all three made their way down south to promote the film. Which leads us to wonder: when will "The Runaways" premiere on the East Coast??

• KRISTEN WOULD SOMETIMES SLEEP IN HER RUNAWAYS MAKEUP

Robin Doyle, head of the makeup department for Kristen Stewart's new movie The Runaways, revealed the secret to Kristen's makeup routine: "Sometimes we’d apply Kristen’s eyeliner at night, then she’d sleep in it, and it was in all the right creases in the morning when she came to the set." • KRISTEN TO BE ON THE COVER OF VANITY FAIR WITH OTHER FEMALE CELEBS

Kristen, Anna Kendrick and many more have recently done a spread for Vanity Fair Magazine. Kristen is one of the three appearing on the cover!

In an era in which every teen star has a stylist and a bland pop record, 19-year-old Kristen Stewart is the tough-minded, no-frills anomaly. Stewart played Bella Swan not as a cartoon but as anxious and complicated—making the predicament of being torn between a vampire and a werewolf seem … well, almost plausible. The daughter of a television-producer father and an Australian script-supervisor mother, the L.A.-bred Stewart has been consistently drawn to melancholy over flash. Between Twilight installments, her edgy trajectory will continue with Welcome to the Rileys, about the friendship between a stripper and a married businessman, played by James Gandolfini, and The Runaways, about rocker Joan Jett.

• KRISTEN DOES NOT LIKE TO PLAN THINGS OUT

While some actresses like to have everything planned out perfectly, Kristen Stewart would rather take her chances living impulsively.

The “Twilight” babe recently told press that she likes to live in the moment and isn’t much for the traditional ways of doing things.

She explained, “I do things very impulsively. I don’t really like to plan things at all. If I am passionate about something then I will do it.”

This past week, Kristen was in Park City, Utah doing promotion for two new films “The Runaways” and “Welcome to the Rileys” at the Sundance Film Festival.

• KRISTEN GOT DIRTY FOR WTTR

'It's an emotionally naked performance,' Jake Scott tells MTV News at Sundance.Kristen Stewart has called her turn as a teen runaway-turned-stripper and prostitute in "Welcome to the Rileys" the most personal performance of her career. According to director Jake Scott, audiences will see an entirely new side of the "Twilight" superstar in the indie flick.

"It's an emotionally naked performance," Scott told MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival. "She really exposed herself in that way."

One way in which she didn't expose herself was in the flesh. While Stewart does show off some skin onscreen, she never appears fully in the nude, nor do any of the scenes play as sexy. Instead they're dark, often sad portraits of a young girl forced into compromising situations and the pitiful men who prey on her vulnerability. Highlighting these story elements, rather than salacious ones, was something Scott set out to accomplish.

"I don't think the film's about a stripper," he said. "I think the film's about a damaged child who happens to be a stripper. I actually de-emphasized that part of it. It's too easy to get caught up and seduced by the idea of the stripper."

Scott and Stewart did do some research in New Orleans. They visited strip clubs and talked to the dancers, learning their stories as a way to present an accurate portrait of a teen in crisis. "Some of them were more reliable than others," he said. "Kristen actually ended up working with a girl who was a very good, useful guide for her. She went and danced in the strip club. She learned the ropes.

"She went for it," Scott added. "She got dirty. I think she was dying to do something like this. I think it comes across, to really investigate something outside of her life realm."

• KRISTEN MAKES VANITY FAIR'S TOP 40 MONEY MAKERS OF 2009

Michael Bay (pictured), director and producer of the blockbuster Transformers series, beat mogul Steven Spielberg to top Vanity Fair's inaugural list of Hollywood's Top 40 Money Makers, which the magazine releases on Tuesday. Bay pulled in $125 million last year, according to the magazine, ahead of Spielberg ($85 million), action director Roland Emmerich ($70 million), Avatar auteur James Cameron ($50 million), and Todd Phillips, producer of The Hangover ($44 million). The magazine limits its list to film-industry creatives: producers, directors, and stars.

Nine women made it into the top 40. The list's highest-ranking actress, Emma Watson (no. 14), beats out Cameron Diaz (no. 19), Sarah Jessica Parker (no. 24), Katherine Heigl (no. 25), and Reese Witherspoon (no. 31). For now, Hogwarts trumps vampires: Along with Watson, Harry Potter hero Daniel Radcliffe (no. 6) and supporting actor Rupert Grint (no. 15) rank far above Twilight co-stars Robert Pattinson (no. 35) and Kristen Stewart (no. 37).

The magazine interviewed scores of Hollywood insiders to compile the list, says contributing editor Peter Newcomb, who compiled the list. Although agents, lawyers, studio executives, and even the stars themselves provided the deal numbers, calculating the earning power isn't always an exact science, Newcomb says.

Who will we see on the list in 2011? Count on Twilight's Taylor Lautner to be here, and for a stronger showing from the King of the World. Avatar director Cameron helped generated sales of more than $800 million for 2009, and his no. 1 movie will most likely also be on the 2010 list a year from now. Also hitting multiplexes this year: the third Fockers installment, for which Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller will each earn about $20 million. Owen Wilson will pull in $15 million for his efforts.
